Gondola and Wall Systems
Optimum
Optimum is the pioneering product
of M.E.G.’s gondola design approach. The Optimum system permits shelves to be adjusted
in one inch increments (a one-inch system). The innovative use of
high tensile strength steel and strategic embossing to provide a significant
performance improvement in load bearing capacity provides a higher load bearing
and lower cost system. The system is designed to be backwardly compatible with
existing shelf standards in the industry.
Optimum was introduced to the market in early 2004. Most national chains in the
discount department store, drug, hardware, auto parts, office, and pet supply stores
utilize Optimum-style gondolas. A low base option was tooled and then introduced in
March of 2008. Current Optimum customers include automotive, discount department,
convenience, dollar, party, sporting goods, hardware and shoe stores.
Champion
Champion is a low cost,
simple one inch system favored by Wal-Mart, Kmart, Dollar General, Best Buy and
a few others.
Specialty Fixtures
M.E.G. also produces fixtures of unique design or fixture accessories that are adaptable to or in
support of our core product lines. M.E.G.’s specialty products include a wide variety of fixtures including shoe departments, mobile book displays, large
electronics and appliance display units, custom sporting goods displays, metal and wood checkouts, rug displayers, special shelf designs such as Bull Nose (a high
fashion, rounded front shelf) and a variety of wood, metal & hybrid fixtures for higher fashion single purpose displays. These specialty products give M.E.G. the
ability to satisfy all of a customer’s fixture needs. Because M.E.G. has a well-developed engineering and production capability, equipped with the latest technology, fixtures can be easily and
efficiently developed and produced. This gives M.E.G. a “speed to market” and a cost advantage for these companion fixtures.
Pharmacy
M.E.G.’s Pharmacy product
line is most often sold as a companion product to Optimum gondola customers.
The line consists of metal uprights and shelves on a 16” module and a variety of
wood under counter units.
Stock Room Shelving
Shelf Space
Shelf-Space is an
excellent medium duty four-post shelving product used in the majority of
retailer’s stock rooms to store merchandise. Shelves are constructed of,
particleboard, metal or wire, and can support evenly distributed loads of up to
600 pounds per shelf and 2,000 pounds per section. M.E.G. offers this in three
styles; the traditional lance style (below left) which has the largest installed
base of any system, the pocket style (below center) which allows direct
replacement of Lozier’s installed base and the lance-less (below right) style
which is preferred by some retailers.
The primary market sectors for Shelf Space are major
department stores, mass merchandisers, auto part stores and specialty store
segments.
Double Deck
For stockroom
applications such as auto parts stores and women’s shoe departments in major
department stores which require high-density storage with simultaneous access by
multiple stock pickers, M.E.G. offers a Double Deck System. M.E.G. manufactures
all of the decking components to match all the styles of Shelf Space. Stairs,
safety rails and powered conveyors are purchased domestically and packaged for
shipment with M.E.G. products. InstallPro contracts for the installation of
many of these systems.
MEGaRAK
MEGaRAK is a full line of
rivet style shelving with both standard and heavy-duty components that can be
used side by side in continuous runs to match varying load requirements. This
product line was designed by M.E.G. engineers specifically for retail stock room
applications. M.E.G. is fully tooled to manufacture all upright and beam
configurations in our metal operation. The particleboard shelves are
manufactured in M.E.G.’s wood operation on an automated saw line. Optional
metal shelves are manufactured in the metal plant on the automated shelf
fabrication line. Optional wire shelves are purchased from a partner qualified
source. Customers for this line include major mall retailers and select big box
retailers.
Pallet Rack
M.E.G. imports a small offering
of pallet rack to be sold as a companion product to MEGaRAK and Shelf Space. M.E.G. does
not market this as a stand alone product.
Mobile Carriage Systems
Mobile carriages are sold
for use in small mall store stockrooms or behind small specialty departments,
where square footage prices are high, in
larger stores where simultaneous access by more than one stock picker is not
required. M.E.G. offers Mobile Carriage Systems that work with both Shelf Space
and MEGaRAK. Shelving runs are mounted on carriages with wheels that move on a
set of tracks. This allows additional runs to occupy the space normally
reserved for aisles, an 89% increase in storage space can be achieved by adding
mobile systems to backrooms. To “open” an aisle, the stock picker moves the carriages
along the tracks; closing one aisle while opening another. In 2008, M.E.G.
designed and introduced its own mobile system, allowing M.E.G. to more
competitively quote turnkey systems and to take total control of all scheduling
issues. Carriages, track, brakes, mechanical assist devices, and other
accessories are all designed and produced utilizing M.E.G.’s metal fabrication
expertise and well developed manufacturing capability to insure a very cost
competitive product offering. Customers include major mall retailers and select
big box retailers
M.E.G. Wood
Accessories
M.E.G.’s wood components
are sold as accessories or companion products for the Optimum, Shelf Space and
MEGaRAK stockroom shelving lines. Accessories include counter tops for gondola
based service counters and checkout counters, corner fills and end panels for
gondola runs. Companion products include checkout counters, manager’s desks,
customer service kiosks, sorting tables, storage bins, specialty fixtures,
pharmacy under counter units, and melamine shelves.
